Many client applications will store username and login information for each site, rather than asking the user for them on every connection. The PassBack suite is a set of components that can decrypt the password information from the client application's password database and display them in plaintext. The main limitation of this approach is that a seperate component has to be written for each client application, and therefore many applications are not supported. Nitro Technologies have however developed a different approach to network client password recovery, and have released two products which offer generic password recovery for any FTP/Email client ever written."
