If user forwards the video, the download point also shifts. The previous buffer is not deleted on forwarding unlike in popular streaming website like youtube, vimeo. This works on ANY video/audio/general file. ANY video player or application can be used open the file. The video link is converted into a virtual file and opened in VLC. If you forward the video, the download point also shifts. It makes a kernel level virtual filesystem. (Hint : think Daemon tools, IsoMagic, FUSE for linux etc) This allows it to support any file format and any video player out of the box. It can also merge 001, 002 type of files virtually, allowing you to watch and download from split links as well. Best of all, all of this free and open source.
